Gorgeous and Cool Book Covers

Dear readers, how many times have you picked up a book at the bookstore or library and started checking it out based solely on the fact that it had a cool book cover? More times than you can count? Me too. Nobody can deny the power and allure of a compelling book cover. Book covers, more often than not, are what draw in readers and introduce them to new authors and works. They catch our eye, intrigue us, and make us want to find out the story behind such an interesting cover. And while it is true that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and that a good cover doesn’t necessary mean that the book itself is any good, I think anything that introduces readers to new stories that they otherwise wouldn’t know exist is a positive thing that should be celebrated.

As such, I’ve gone and put together a little list of some of book covers that I think are just plain cool (though I’ll admit, The Hound of the Baskervilles cover is above and beyond my favorite). What are some of your favorite covers, dear readers?
